VISIT ENGLAND 5 STAR GOLD AWARD WINNER
3 bedroom, central accommodation. Private garden. Free parking. Dogs welcome.
With Windermere to the north and Morecambe Bay to the south, this delightful detached property makes a wonderful holiday home for a family or a couple exploring the idyllic southern reaches of the Lake District. Situated in the heart of the gorgeous village of Cartmel, this pretty barn conversion provides tranquil accommodation for up to five guests (dogs welcome), within easy reach of some of the area’s stunning coastlines and glorious woodlands.
Beautifully furnished and imaginatively updated, this cosy and friendly stone-built former barn is set in the corner of the village square. The cottage has been decorated in stylish neutral tones and retains original exposed ceiling beams. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow light to flood into the bright and spacious lounge/diner, which makes a lovely space to unwind in. The light and attractive kitchen features an additional dining area. Upstairs, there are three warm and relaxing bedrooms to choose from. Doors open out from the kitchen into the lovely walled garden, a tranquil and private space with a lawn, patio and plenty of outdoor furniture so you can sit back in the evening and dine alfresco. Off-road parking – a rarity in the village – is available for two cars.
With a history dating back some 800 years, the idyllic village of Cartmel is home to a National Hunt racecourse, a 12th-century priory and the Cartmel Priory Gatehouse. Known for its marvellous sticky toffee pudding, Cartmel also has a number of charming village shops and welcoming pubs set around a market square. Nearby is the grand country house of Holker Hall and Gardens (2.5 miles), or you could head to the coastal village of Grange-over-Sands (2.5 miles) on Morecambe Bay. Both Windermere (6.5 miles) and Coniston Water (15 miles) are within easy reach inland.
