CARTMEL SHOPPING PARADISE

From the Square, ancient streets wend their way out of the village, each well worth the exploration for the variety of shops on offer. Browsers will delight in finding all kinds of Lakeland products - from gifts and clothing to fine art and antiques.

Unsworth's Yard can be found near the Priory with artisan shops Cartmel Cheeses, the Red Pepper & Hotwines shop and a microbrewery.

Situated beside the Priory, Hales have a delicious range of luxury handmade chocolates, Wrendale gift range, bespoke hampers and traditional sweets.  !4 flavours of delicious organic English lakes ice cream including the Hales doggy cone!

There are a number of unusual gift shops in Cartmel, each selling their own blend of unique gifts.

Perfect English is a very stylish independent shop in the heart of Cartmel village selling an eclectic mixture of designer-led high end gifts. Peruse the shelves of exquisite ceramics, unusual jewellery, home furnishings, and luxurious toiletries. Housed in a lovingly restored historic property in the village square, the Perfect English shop is furnished with pieces of classic country furniture and antiques, all of which are also for sale.

The Larch Tree, next to the Priory has clothing, hundreds of present ideas, quality and traditional toys for children, and toys for adults who have never grown up! Opposite, in the Cartmel Village Institute building, Fieldhead Crafts sell gifts made locally in Cumbria and on the third Firday of each month there is a craft fair upstairs.

The Rusland Movement's beautiful contemporary furniture can be found under the Priory Gatehouse and the new Cartmel Village Vintage, next to The Mallard Tea Rooms, is full of vintage and retro clothes, homewares and gifts.

Cartmel Village Shop make up beautiful food gift hampers and picnics all year round. You can hand select foods, preserves and culinary gifts to make your present truly personal.

A couple of miles outside of Cartmel is the impressively large nineteenth century Yew Tree Barn. Situated at Low Newton it is an Aladdin's cave of architectural antiques and furniture. With impressive galleries of arts, crafts, local food & drink, and the workshops of a local wool business, bookbinder, artisan blacksmith and furniture restorer/maker under its oak beams, you can while away a few hours browsing before trying out their super little Harry's Cafe Bar.

In Grange-over-Sands you will find Grange Bakery selling new lines such as Multiseed Loaf and Ciabatta with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. They continue to produce favourites that your 'Granny' would remember from childhood, Vanilla Slices, Viennese Whirls, Battenberg Cakes, Current Square and All Butter Shortbread, to name but a few.
